On Monday night, NBA superstar Stephen Curry sat down with two NFL legends, Peyton and Eli Manning, to watch his favorite side, the San Francisco 49ers play against the Los Angeles Rams. Incidentally, the 49ers won the game by a hefty margin and they were praising one particular player, i.e. Deebo Samuel.

It is worth noting that the Niners’ wide receiver requested a trade back in April. However, he decided against that and signed a 3-year extension with the franchise. During the matchup, Peyton Manning asked Curry whether he had any influence on Samuel’s sudden change of heart and the Warriors point guard gave an interesting answer.

While watching the game, Manning asked, “Do Niner Fans Have to Thank You?” In reply, Curry jokingly said, “We lost one of big three a couple of years ago, I think we got one to stay in the Bay Area. So, at least we got that going for us.”

Then Curry praised Samuel and said, “He is a fan favorite, great to have him back. He’s such an amazing athlete, amazing talent. You saw the play he made earlier across the field for that touchdown. Hopefully, he’s gonna be here to stay.“

Earlier in April, Samuel asked for a trade but extended with the 49ers for a massive $73.5 million deal. Interestingly, he attended one of the Warriors games during the NBA playoffs last season and met Curry after the bout. So Manning jokingly asked Curry about that incident where he asked Samuel to stay in the Bay Area. Although he extended with the Niners, he never disclosed the reasons for asking for a trade away from the Bay Area.

Samuel had a massive game against the Rams

Meanwhile, on Monday night, Samuel’s 57-yard touchdown catch grabbed plenty of headlines. With Samuel’s help, the 49ers beat the Rams 24-9 in a must-win game. Notably, the offense has been struggling all season so far, but Samuel’s 57-yard touchdown gave a new life to the Niners’ offense and they got the win over the Rams.

In 2021, Samuels had a breakthrough season as he recorded 1405 receiving yards and 365 rushing yards; he was the only player to achieve this feat in a single season in NFL history. Moreover, he had 8 rush touchdowns, the most by a wide receiver in league history. Although this season has not started like the last season ended, the Niners fans are hoping to see a sudden change after his amazing performance against the Rams.
