A new era is approaching the future of the Green Bay Packers. With their 4X MVP QB Aaron Rodgers now no more available at their disposal, the team will have to carry forward their faith and hopes with a new QB1 on their roster. Rodgers recently signed with New York Jets, bringing an end to his 17-year glorious runs with the Packers. With the franchise now building on its future after the 39-year-old QB’s exit, they will have to look forward to new challenges they are to face on their journey in the NFL.

With the Packers now not having the likes of Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre battling it out on the field for them, the focus now shifts to another QB who has been in the shadows for years. A young QB who carries the expectations of continuing the legacy in Green Bay. Is this the start of a new QB story?

Aaron Rodgers has spent the entirety of his career serving as a QB for the Packers. But now with his departure, the team has to shift their focus on a younger new generation QB who has been developing and hiding under the shadows of A-Rod’s legacy. 24-year-old Jordan Love now has the spotlight to himself, as the team puts their faith in him to be the next big thing in a legacy of great QBs in the franchise. Love was drafted as a first-round pick in 2020. And after three seasons as a backup, he is finally getting ready to take up the role of QB1 on the roster.

In a recent episode of NFL on NBC, insider Mike Florio discussed the way Love’s future looks with the Packers following the exit of Rodgers. Tom Clements joined the Packers again last year as the QB coach. His initial goal was to train Aaron Rodgers. But now with the Super Bowl XLV-winning QB gone, his focus will be primarily on developing the next QB of the franchise. Florio said that while talking about the development of Jordan Love in the position, Clements pointed out, “You can’t put a time on it, he needs to get out and play. We need to see what he can do. And he needs to see what he can do.”

Despite Back-to-Back MVPs, Ex-QB Reveals Aaron Rodgers “Taken for Granted” by Coach Matt LeFleur & Green Bay Packers

Clements felt that Love’s development as the next big QB after Rodgers is something “that isn’t immediate” and “there isn’t any magical moment where you expect it to happen”. But does Jordan Love have the capability to carry forward the legacy left behind by Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre?

Will Love be able to continue the QB legacy of the franchise?

Despite the young QB having limited exposure on the NFL field in the last few seasons, Clements is confident in Jordan Love’s potential. Love has only one appearance as a starter in 2021. And overall, he has completed 50-of-83 passes for 606 yards and three touchdowns. Similarly to how the Packers were confident with Rodgers in the work put in behind Brett Favre, they are confident of the growth and development of Love in his three seasons behind Rodgers. Further portraying their confidence in the QB, the Packers also signed a one-year $22.5 million extension with $13.5 million in guaranteed money.

The exodus of Rodgers was followed by a line of other Packers players including Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Marcedes Lewis. So Love will have to continue building chemistry and cohesion with a young roster that has the fire in them to become names we will remember in the coming days. The pressure and expectations are high on the young QB. And the new season will be a testament to the potential he has as a successor of another great QB in the league.
