After shocking the NFL world by firing head coach Frank Reich, the Indianapolis Colts seem to be settling in with their new hire Jeff Saturday. The decision to replace Reich with Saturday garnered confusion among fans and analysts across the board. That’s not all. Saturday stated that he was stunned, like everyone else.

The Colts’ new interim coach’s resume is slightly blank. Apart from his years in the league as a player, Saturday has no college or league-level coaching experience to show. But, Colts owner Jim Irsay has unwavering faith in his new hire.
After an introductory press conference that was both chaotic and bewildering with regard to Irsay’s web of sentiments and metaphors, the NFL world looked forward to the team’s reaction to their new coach. The confusing narratives around the decision to hire someone with no coaching experience were bound to make it to the locker room. But, it looks like Saturday had it all covered.
The Colts seemed impressed by what Saturday had to say. His first team meeting with the squad seems to have made a lasting impression.
Jeff Saturday is ready
Linebacker Zaire Franklin said that they were not going to treat the narratives going around like an elephant in the room. He also said that Saturday did a great job at acknowledging where he stands. Centre Ryan Kelly also appreciated Saturday’s upfront approach, stating that he [Saturday] addressed it the right way.

The new interim coach was asked about why he would want to be thrust into a situation like this, where he would be leading a team at such a high level.

He said, “Because I care, I told the guys this morning, I care about the players, care about their families. I’ve sat in their seat. Man, this sucks, right?” The veteran also added that he loved Frank Reich and was working with him every week. “I consider Frank a friend,” he added

Saturday emphasized his understanding of the players’ situation and the love they have for their former coach. He said that he does not minimize it. The veteran was also upfront about his inexperience but defended himself by saying that he knows how to lead and is passionate about football. Saturday believes that his experience on the field alongside his accomplishments has caused him to witness greatness first-hand.
