The New England Patriots faced some blows during the offseason that made heads scratch. After offensive mind Josh McDaniels left for Las Vegas, the Patriots are without coordinators on both sides of the ball. On Thursday, the franchise reveals new positing in the coaching staff. However, it seems like Bill Belichick has named no one officially taking over as coordinators.

The Patriots have officially made a statement after the departure of Josh McDaniels. They made some crucial information public after announcing the official members and the titles of the coaching staff. But Belichick enters the training camps with a risk, as they have no one filling the space to fill the coordinators. At least not officially.

New England Patriots finally opened up on the coaching staff after losing out on a prominent coaching personality. Head Coach/GM Bill Belichick names Ex-Lions HC Matt Patricia as senior football adviser/OL and Ex-Giants HC Joe Judge as offensive assistant/QBs. Both former head coaches are now a part of the Patriots’ coaching staff.

However, the Patriots did not give out names for the offensive coordinator and its successor for McDaniels. The move might raise some eyebrows as the offensive position has some significant duties.

Linebacker coaches Steve Belichick and Jerod Mayo have held prominent positions on the team’s defensive side. However, they did not designate an official defensive coordinator.

As per ESPN, Bill Belichick said back in March, “I’m not big on titles. We have jobs to do. We’ll do the jobs.”

What is the authority level of Bill Belichick in the Patriots?

Bill Belichick holds significant power in the New England Patriots. He is the franchise’s general manager, head coach, and game plan manager. With such authority and not appointing a successor for McDaniels, Belichick might control the offensive plays and game plan. However, given that Bill is a defensive-minded coach, expect QB coach Matt Patricia to wear the headset for the offensive plays.

It is not the first time for the franchise to function without coordinators. In 2010, the Patriots had a similar situation, but it played out pretty well. As per Sportscasting, the 2010 Patriots season saw a 14-2 record. They were eighth in the fewest points allowed and first in points scored in the NFL. Hopefully, Mac Jones functions like butter, just like Tom Brady did.
