Critics argued that the 2020 NFL season will be a ‘nightmare’ for Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots. But two weeks into the season, it’s safe to say, they’re doing more than alright.

They started their campaign with a comfortable 21-11 win over Miami Dolphins in Week One. Cam Newton impressed during his Patriots debut striking a strong partnership with wide receiver Julian Edelman on multiple plays.

However, they suffered a narrow 35-30 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last weekend. Despite the defeat, the Boston-based outfit showed enough to strike optimism into the Patriots’ faithful.

One of the positives from that night was the emerging understanding between quarterback Cam Newton and wideout Julian Edelman.

Julian Edelman, Cam Newton, forging a strong bond for the Patriots in 2020

Veteran NFL wide receiver, Julian Edelman, appeared on a Patriots talk show earlier this week. The 34-year-old wideout was quizzed about summer recruit Cam Newton. Here’s what he said in relation to that.

He said, “The more time you get to play with the guy, that’s usually when the relationship builds. We hung out a bunch, off the field here and there…I’m sure that helps you know. He’s a football player, I mean, he’s played a lot of football games, I’ve played in a lot of football games.”

“We still have a long way to go, we could still do so much better but it’s exciting coming in….It’s a very fun relationship and I’m looking forward to continually trying to improve it.”

Coach Bill Belichick will be preparing for a tough clash against Jon Gruden’s Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Derek Carr-led Raiders are this year’s surprise package in the NFL. They remain unbeaten with a 2-0 record.

TE Darren Waller and Carr starred last weekend as they bested the New Orleans Saints in their first game ever at the brand new Allegiant Stadium in Nevada.

The Patriots, on the other hand, suffered their first loss of the season against the Seattle Seahawks at the CenturyLink Field. They will look to get back to winning ways when they take on an in-form Raiders outfit at the Gillette Stadium.
