‘Mac Jones Wasn’t Trendy Enough for Y’all’: Tyrann Mathieu Calls Out NFL Fans’ Hypocrisy on Twitter

Mac Jones has recently become the talk of the town after his amazing performance against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The elite rookie completed 19 out of 23 passes; he attempted with zero interceptions and three touchdowns. He received a lot of praise from the media. The fans who were criticizing Jones have begun worshiping his performance. 

An unexpected ally stepped up to call out the hypocrisy

Kansas City Chiefs franchise quarterback Tyrann Mathieu called out the haters on Twitter and taunted their hypocrisy. The Honey Badger tweeted, “Mac Jones wasn’t trendy enough for y’all at first huh now y’all love him…. Man, y’all funny!!! Day in and day out!!! Y’all should be on Comedy Central” 

The former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky agreed with Tyrann and replied to the tweet with “Yup yup” to which Mathieu responded with, “He don’t throw side arm or run fast so people knocked him….. dude can play QB! Period.” Dan Orlovsky followed this up with, “MY GUY “He may not be fast—but he plays fast AF” Keep on your grind 32”

It is clear that the New England Patriots rookie quarterback has a supporters in the Chiefs’ star and the ESPN analyst. 

Where does Mac Jones go from here?

The only direction we can expect Mac Jones to go is to the top. He is already emerging as a top contender for the rookie of the season award at the NFL Honors. He has been a valuable contributor to the four-game winning streak of the New England Patriots. After their 45-7 win against the Browns, Jones is on the top of his game. 

Before the NFL draft of this season, Mac Jones received a lot of criticism because of his lack of athleticism. While in Alabama, he set the record of completion percentage by a quarterback in a single season and won the National Championship. So far, the 15th overall New England Patriots pick has proven all the haters wrong, and he has been able to perform on the big stage with no problems at all.

His stats do the talking for him, with the 10 appearances for the Patriots, Jones has 69% pass completion and 13 touchdowns. With a wonderful rookie like Mac Jones by their side, The Patriots hope to increase their winning streak in the coming weeks of the NFL.
