Jacksonville Jaguars returning to their roots
The Jacksonville-based franchise started their journey in the NFL with teal as their primary color. Established back in 1995, the Jacksonville Jaguars had the teal overalls as their primary uniform till 2011.
The color teal set the Jaguars apart as they were the only franchise in the league to sport it. However, the Jaguars made the shift to its black alternate top as the new primary uniform in the 2012 season. The black overalls remained their primary color till the 2020 season.
The announcement came as a surprise to all as the Jaguars dropped a video of the new teal uniform across their social media platforms.
“As the only team in the NFL that wears teal, we know what this color means to our organization, the 904 and our entire fanbase.
“Teal inspires great memories of some of our franchise’s greatest moments,” said head Jaguars equipment manager Jimmy Luck said in a statement to ESPN.
“Making the switch to teal as our primary uniform color allows us to celebrate that history while kicking off a new era of Jaguars football,” he added.
Fans had been asking for a return to the teal primary for years, and finally, the team’s management has answered their prayers.
