But to overtake Brady, Mahomes will a lot more than one more Super Bowl win. Currently, six Super Bowl rings separate Patrick Mahomes from Tom Brady.

A mountain to climb but one that might just be possible with time on his side. But whether or not Patrick Mahomes will be able to maintain that sort of success will play the biggest role in the journey of his legacy.

Patrick Mahomes has a lot of catching up to do with Tom Brady 

During a segment of KJZ, former NFL player turned analyst Keyshawn Johnson said that he believes Mahomes’ attempt to usurp Brady will boil down to a lot of things apart from his own talent.

With football being a sport with a lot more dynamics, Johnson said that, unlike basketball, one football can’t change everything for a franchise. He also said that even Brady doesn’t have that sort of an influence through solely his game.

“One player in basketball changes everything for an organization. One player in football and I know you’re going to point to Tom Brady, but no. Brady landed into the perfect situation.”

Again commenting on the unpredictable and fast-evolving nature of the NFL, Johnson said that predicting how many Super Bowls Patrick Mahomes is near impossible.

“I don’t know whether Patrick Mahomes is going to be able to catch Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Michael Jordan. It’s hard as hell to win a playoff game in the NFL, let alone number of Super Bowls,”  he said. 

Patrick Mahomes is only 25 years old. With a lot of football left in him, the Kansas City Chiefs QB is one’s best bet to break Brady’s record. But we’ve seen countless times in the past, that one star QB isn’t enough to drag a franchise to Super Bowls.
