There are players in the NFL today who could start the new season with a different franchise. For starters, there is no name bigger in that pool than reigning league MVP Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers has fallen out with the Green Bay Packers, after a few years of decline. Julio Jones is another name that has been making the trade rounds.

The Falcons might be working towards a rebuild, and Jones could be a valuable trading chip that relieves their cap struggles. NFL analyst James Palmer was a guest on Good Morning Football to talk about trade scenarios in the NFL.

The hosts asked Palmer who he believed was more likely to leave via a trade – Aaron Rodgers or Julio Jones. Palmer noted that Julio Jones was more expendable compared to Rodgers, simply because Aaron Rodgers is a player that is too important to his teammate.

Julio Jones will most likely be moved in order for the Falcons to make sure their salary cap struggles can ease up.

“I’ll say, Julio Jones. Because you Lok at Aaron Rodgers, that is a player that is not replaceable. There are few of them in the NFL, that is Aaron Rodgers.

“They will mend this, he will stay. There is a rebuild going on in Atlanta. Julio Jones has a better chance of playing elsewhere.”

Palmer’s comments come off the back of some positive news for the Green Bay Packers. Earlier this week, it was reported that things have softened between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers.

While there has been no tangible improvement in the situation, it appears that Rodgers could be softening his stance with Green Bay, and the Packers and he could settle their differences and ink a new long-term contract to secure his place in the team.

Julio Jones, on the other hand, is most likely to leave the Falcons this year. This is mostly because the franchise just cannot afford his huge contract. The Falcons are one of the most adversely affected teams with regards to the salary cap.

The franchise is ready to let Jones go for almost next to nothing. Given that he is still one of the elite wide receivers in the NFL, a lot of teams will be ready to bring him in.
