Jalen Hurts will get his big chance in Philadelphia next season. The former Oklahoma State quarterback had a bit of a breakout season last year when he subbed in for the underperforming Carson Wentz.

Hurts only got a few starts, but clearly did enough to catch the eye of the Eagles’ brass. But will he be the starting quarterback for the Eagles next season? One analyst believes that is the most likely outcome.

NFL analyst Dan Graziano spoke on ESPN about the Philadelphia Eagles. He noted that Jalen Hurts is clearly the building block for the franchise.

The new coaching core for the Eagles, led by young Head Coach Nick Sirianni, has the perfect piece in Hurts to build around. However, he did warn fans not to expect Sirianni to come out and deem Hurts the undisputed starter for the team anytime soon.

Philadelphia Eagles Cornerback Expects DeVonta Smith to Win 1-on-1 Matchups Despite Concerns About His Size

“They bring in Nick Sirianni, who is a young Head Coach, he’s got a young coaching staff, they feel like this is a coach and a coaching staff that can grow with the young quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

“That is the ideal plan in Philadelphia and that’s the plan going forward. He’s not going to come out and say Hurts is he starter because he’s a new coach, he’s trying to establish a certain ethos with the team like everybody has got to compete for their spot.”

Jalen Hurts as starting quarterback?

Graziano added that deeming Hurts as the undisputed starter can alter and negatively impact team chemistry. However, the reserve quarterback Joe Flacco isn’t threatening Hurts’ all-but-confirmed starting quarterback role. Unless there is some ridiculous shift, Hurts will be the starter for the team.

“So if I’m a coach and I’m telling you everybody has got to compete for the spot except the quarterback, then why should you buy into what I’m saying.

“This is just coach stuff, they didn’t bring him in, Nick Sirianni, to grow and develop with Joe Flacco. Hurts is the guy going forward barring an injury or some kind of ridiculous training amp situation where it looks like he just can’t handle it. But so far it seems like he can.”
