Despite them missing the Playoffs, there was a noticeable change in the team. For his efforts, Herbert was awarded the Rookie of the Year accolade. But one analyst thinks he will take a massive leap this season.

NFL analyst Mike Greenberg spoke on ESPN about Justin Herbert. He pointed out that Patrick Mahomes was able to win the league MVP title within his second season. Furthermore, Lamar Jackson was able to do the same in his second season as well.

Justin Herbert- MVP next season?

Greenberg added that the Chargers have put him in a strong position for next season. The Chargers replaced members in the coaching staff and added some solid offensive players for Herbert to provide for.

If things go right, and Herbert continues to perform at the level that he did last season, then there is no reason that he can’t be a strong contender for the MVP title next season.

New coaching staff turned that around, couple more pieces completely remade the offensive line, including the first-round pick – a tackle, they bring in two new guards and a center. I think Justin Herbert has a really good chance to be the MVP of the NFL this year.”
