NFL Draft Expert Tips New England Patriots to Draft Justin Fields

The New England Patriots are in the hunt for a quarterback. Despite signing Cam Newton to a new contract this off-season, Bill Belichick is looking for his quarterback for the future. The hope is that they can bring in a young quarterback through the draft, and he can learn under a former NFL MVP like Cam Newton. And one draft expert believes that quarterback will be Justin Fields.
NFL Draft Expert Mel Kiper Jr. spoke to ESPN recently about his latest mock draft. Kipper has tipped Justin Fields to join the New England Patriots with the #10 pick.
That pick currently belongs to Dallas, but he expects the Patriots to trade for that pick. The toss-up right now is between Justin Fields and Trey Lance to be the 4th quarterback picked after the Top-3 of Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones.

“I think the pressure to get that quarterback…Now you have to go get somebody like Justin Fields, who I think is the second-best quarterback in the draft.
“Some agree, some strongly disagree. But I think when you look at the mixed opinion,(it) could allow him to slide down. The top three are locked in, then come Trey Lance or Justin Fields for the fourth spot.
“If it is Trey Lance, that is consensus when I made the calls this weekend, then Justin Fields is available.”

Is Justin Fields worth the risk for New England?
Kiper added that there are other NFL franchises that are (presently) ahead of the New England Patriots in this draft. However, he believes that the Patriots have a sense of urgency to move up in the draft.
They need to start looking for the quarterback of the future and cannot risk waiting till 2023 to draft a top-quality quarterback.

“There are other teams that could make that move, but I think New England is front and center. Do they want to stay at 15th? They could, but who’s going to be their quarterback down the road?

“You’re going to have the number one pick in 2023 to get the guy? Probably not. So when you look at New England, if Justin Fields does slide, the opportunity then presents itself for teams like New England to move up and get him.”
Should the New England Patriots move up in the draft to select Justin Fields? Fields is an excellent quarterback who was part of an Ohio State team that reached the national championship game.
