The end of the first round in the 2022 NFL Draft means that Liberty quarterback Malik Willis remains surprisingly undrafted. In a draft class that has few QB talents, Willis going undrafted was a surprise for some NFL fans. But it seems the Liberty QB remains thankful for the opportunity to be playing in the NFL and remains patient.
Amongst the QBs present in the Draft, Kenny Pickett was the only one chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers with their 20th overall pick. It meant the wait for Willis grows as he enters the second round with renewed hope.

The Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Tennessee Titans all chose against taking Willis. While it is not a new trend, the franchises seem to be using their draft picks with extreme caution. The 2022 class is one of the least exciting classes for QB talent and Willis seems to be paying the price for it.
Will Malik Willis still get his chance to shine?
The chances of teams drafting him in the second round are high due to him being a QB with some busy potential. There remain some other QB talents on the board like Ole Miss’ Matt Corral, Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder, and North Carolina’s Sam Howell. While they all could have a Brady-esque resurgence in the future, the teams seem to not be ready to take that plunge.
