In the last few days, the ire of fans has been directed at referees for some of the apparent questionable calls made during the conference championship games. As the fire continues to rage, a former player’s words roused the NFL world.

Former Dolphins RB Arian Foster was suddenly brought to the spotlight after some of his statements went viral. In the light of recent discourse that’s had the NFL world in uproar, fans have begun to wonder if their theories are based on some truth.

Adrian Foster makes a resounding admission

In the last few days Twitter was stormed by angry fans who protested that games were being ‘rigged’. So, what spurred this widespread sentiment? During the Bengals versus Chiefs AFC conference final, fans were treated to some seemingly bizarre calls– that had an adverse outcome from the Bengals’ perspective. Even the NFC championship game between the Eagles and 49ers had fans livid with certain decisions.

The general consensus in these games pointed at one-sided refereeing- at least from fans of the teams whose Super Bowl dreams came crashing down.

While speaking on his podcast ‘Macrodosing’ Foster said, “So, it was more, like, that’s what practice was about, practicing the script. This is what goes on. This is what we have to do. It’s like WWF, so we know what’s going to happen, but you still have to put on a show.” Foster was engaging in a comedic bit for the podcast and perhaps didn’t really mean what he was saying. But, in the light of recent events his words hit too close to home.

While the twitter thread that followed Foster’s statements was hilarious, the tweets that came after the conference finals were not remotely funny. As fans look forward to the Super Bowl faceoff, the discourse about unfair refereeing continues to be the undercurrent within the football world.
