NFL World Mourns the Passing of Arizona Cardinals CB Jeff Gladney, 25, Who Died in a Tragic Car Accident

Jeff Gladney, a cornerback with the Arizona Cardinals, passed away in an automobile accident in Dallas, Texas on Monday morning. Brian Overstreet, the NFL star’s agent, confirmed his death. Gladney was one of two people injured in the vehicle accident and as the investigation is still ongoing, the second victim has yet to be identified.

Arizona Cardinals released a statement on their social media that read, “We are devastated to learn of Jeff Gladney’s passing. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all who are mourning this tremendous loss.” Gladney had signed a two-year contract with the Cardinals this year.

25-year-old Jeff Gladney has played his college football for the Texas Christian University. Gladney was a four-year starter at TCU and was selected 31st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. In 2020, he appeared in 16 games for the Vikings and started 15 of them. Altogether, he had 81 total tackles, 3-passes defense, and one forced fumble.

The passing of the young NFL star has come as a shocker to the whole NFL world. After the news broke out, the NFL players and the fans took to social media to express their condolences. Here are some of the Twitter reactions by the NFL community.

NFL released a statement and offered condolence to Gladney’s family.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, a speeding car lost control and was struck by a beam at around 2:30 am on Monday. Moreover, the passengers of the second car escaped injury.

Gladney was a young player who was really good at his game. He had been performing well, and there was so much left to see about him. His leaving the world so soon in a tragic accident is quite saddening.
