Carson Wentz has had one of the worst seasons as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles fans expect a lot from a quarterback that they’ll end up paying $132 million for, over the next 4 years. His game has only deteriorated from 2019 to 2020. He has looked way below average in 2020. A simple stat that will back that is that Wentz has more interceptions than he has touchdowns.

Wentz is the only player under the age of 30 since 1950, to have his passer rating take a dip beyond 24 points. His passer rating has dropped from 98.3 in 2017 and 2019 to a mere 73.4 in the year 2020. He has created history and now is the second player in the NFL who has thrown 15 interceptions and sacked around 45 times through 11 games in a regular season.

In. 2020 he barely got 16 touchdowns with 15 interceptions, completing only 58.1% of his passes, giving him a passer rating of only 73.4.

His average from 2017 to 2019 was 260.2 passing yards and around 7.2 yards per game in the following years. His average dipped to 231 passing yards and around 6.0 yards per game this year, which is just shocking.

We’re frustrated, we’re frustrated. I know I’m frustrated. I hate losing and it’s very frustrating to have this result these last couple weeks and be where we’re at this season,” said Wentz on Monday night after a 23-17 loss expressing his grief.

Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson came forward to defend his quarterback. He talked about the Eagles’ offensive line. He defended them by saying – “Offensively, we’ve battled with a lot of injuries. A lot of different moving parts upfront with the offensive line, guys in and out. We haven’t had the consistency and continuity that you would like a week in and week out,” He further added, “We just haven’t had that this season. That’s something that we don’t make excuses for; it’s where we are, and we have to get better.”

“It’s not about one guy. We had breakdowns across the board and it doesn’t really matter who’s back there,” “The mistakes were still going to be made, and [that’s] something we got to fix.” said Pederson in Carson Wentz’s defense.

As of now, it looks very difficult for the Eagles to make it to the playoffs. With just 5 games remaining, let’s see whether the Eagles can tighten up their socks and make a comeback and make it to post-season.
