The Alchemist is the best-selling novel of the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. The novel was originally published in 1988 in Portuguese. It has sold more than 150 million copies. No, that is not why the book holds a Guinness World Record for.

The Alchemist was translated into 83 languages, making the Brazilian novelist the most translated author of the same book. Along with that impossible feat, the author also has the world record for the most translations of a single title signed in one sitting. He signed 53 different language editions.
