One of the best and most flamboyant stars in the NFL, fans know Odell Beckham Jr for his flashy displays on the field, his insane workout routines and his lavish lifestyle. Fans have known the WR for his fabulous finishes and his stats, which are among the best in the NFL. Odell last played with the LA Rams during the 2021 season and was part of the Super Bowl-winning team.

Leaving the Rams at the end of the season, OBJ became a free agent. However, with the season fast approaching, he seems more eager to re-sign with the Rams. But he has made his conditions for re-signing very clear and it seems he has a huge number on his mind in order to sign the contract.

What led to Odell Beckham Jr deciding to re-sign with the Rams?

OBJ won the Super Bowl with the Rams. He ended the season as the second-best receiver on the team. Today, OBJ is quality known to all. He has the ability to affect the end result of a game. And in the NFL, that accounts for a lot. With so many moving parts, if you are someone who is excellently reliable, you’ll thrive in the NFL.

However, what the WR is looking for with the Rams currently is an enormous amount. He wants to re-sign with the franchise only if offered a sum of $7 million for the 2022 season. This came to light from a tweet by Josina Anderson where she mentioned, “7 ain’t getting it done. #allegedly”.

What she possibly meant was that the Rams would not re-sign OBJ at such a sizeable figure, given that the star has been extremely injury-prone over the last few seasons. Also, they have already spent a significant chunk of their salary cap getting newer players on board.

The star WR’s demand for the exorbitant sum may have been because of the signings made by the Rams this year. The franchise signed fellow WR Cooper Kupp at $17.8 million, which may have prompted OBJ to raise his own salary expectations for the season. However, this demand may lead the Rams to let him go this season, given their financial state.

What does the future hold for OBJ?

The Super Bowl champion’s future looks slightly unclear at present. Despite his impressive statistics and records over the years, no team has actively shown interest in him. Nor has OBJ been active in looking for a franchise to sign with. Teams would also factor in the WR’s injury record over the last season before signing him on. He injured his ACL at the end of the last season and is currently recovering from it.

It, therefore, remains to be seen what the WR does for the 2022 season. Given his availability issues due to injury and the salary cap, the LA Rams may not be able to sign him. Unless he reduces his asking price. For other teams, OBJ would still have to show that he is a valuable investment for them in their quest for the best results in the league, and not another addition to their IR.
