Former Arizona Cardinals NFL legend JJ Watt is retired and looking for a new start. He suggested renting an RV and traveling to Taylor Swift’s concerts. However, now, he has ditched Taylor Swift’s concerts for his wife’s sport and is investing in European football, specifically Burnley FC.

“Look I’ve only been retired for about four months now, but I really need something to do. If we rent an RV. We can hit the entire Taylor Swift to it just by driving,” he mentioned in an Instagram video.

Although he commits, he loves soccer and decides to take part with his wife. He clarified that he is not going to play soccer but instead make a minority investment. JJ and his wife, NWSL star Kealia Watt have their eyes on Burnley FC, and they plan to take a journey.

In March, the Watt couple visited Burnley’s stadium and watched their win against Wigan. They’ll also attend Burnley’s final match on May 8.

JJ Watt and wife follow in Ryan Reynolds’ footsteps

Despite not having enough money to buy the whole club, they settle on Burnley as their team. Their journey begins in the English football pyramid. To reply to a question- “So you want to be Ryan Reynolds?” JJ said, “We don’t have ‘buy an entire European football club’ kind of money.” But his wife replied “Yes, please” in a sarcastic way. They clarify that they don’t have enough money, but they have a plan to make a massive emotional investment.

JJ Watt and his wife’s investment in Burnley Football Club is similar to Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s investment in Wrexham. Both are small football clubs that recently got promoted to a higher league, with Reynolds and McElhenney purchasing Wrexham a few years ago.

Overall, JJ is excited to take his audience to the top of the pyramid, which is the Premier League, the highest level of professional football in England.
