Los Angeles Chargers might just be starting to gain momentum and attention, unlike any time in franchise history. The franchise quite recently received a glowing endorsement from 2021 PGA Championship-winning golfer Phil Mickelson. Mickelson had high praise for Chargers’ GM Tom Telesco and his eye for drafting and recruiting talented players.

He was especially praising the explosiveness that Chargers RB Justin Jackson and WR Joshua Palmer have put on display this season. Both Jackson and Palmer have been the guys for QB Justin Herbert whenever he looked up for routes through defenses. During another NFL season ravaged by COVID, Chargers really have been relying on them in their final crucial weeks.

From his humble beginnings in San Diego, Mickelson has been a lifelong Chargers fan. He has been a vocal presence for the franchise over the years and has long desired their Super Bowl appearance. He also has been a longtime friend of Chargers’ owner Dean Spanos.

Mickelson has always shown trust in QB Justin Herbert and his abilities to lead his hometown franchise to the Super Bowl promise land. He once again backed his trust in the young yet impressive QB in his hopeful and positive tweet.

 The Potential of the Los Angeles Chargers Franchise

Los Angeles Chargers is really a team that faced many questions at the start of this campaign. The questions ranged from the abilities of their new head coach Brandon Staley to QB Herbert’s highly anticipated second season. Despite being hampered by COVID-19 in the final two weeks of December, the Chargers sit in the 2nd spot in the AFC West standings with an 8-7 record.

It is really solid reading for a team that was always expected to garner 9 wins before the start of this season. They are on track to reaching that number and making the AFC Playoffs as one of the final Wildcards. As part of a core of young players and a 2nd year QB, the Chargers have only gone ahead and given their fans renewed hope and excitement.

The high praise from Mickelson did receive its fair share of positive backing and rather feels justified in a very long time.
