NFL isn’t kind to the teams who fail to perform over the years. Unfortunately, the Washington Commanders have been one of them, with the franchise failing to notch a win in the playoffs since 2005. Following the end of the 2022 season, the fans of the Commanders would have been hopeful for a change of pace as Dan and Tan were looking to sell their stake in the franchise.

After approval in a closed-room meeting from 24 of the 32 owners, the deal is in motion for completion. A joint bid led by Josh Harris and others in the group will take over the Washington outfit. The deal worth upwards of six billion has been in the works since early April when they first approached to work out a deal. Harris and co will take over the duties as owners weeks before the preseason begins in August.

The new owners will be getting their feet under the desk soon enough in the upcoming weeks. But many might wonder about the legacy left behind by Snyder as the owner of the commanders for over 2 decades. Spoiler Alert, it’s nothing fascinating. But there is a mystery hiding.

Tumultuous time with the Commanders for Daniel Snyder

Daniel Snyder took over as the principal owner of the Washington Redskins back in 1999. The Redskins would undergo a rebrand twice under his reign, with both instances less than a decade apart. The on-pitch performances for the Washington Commanders were nothing special, as they’d end up winning just 2 playoff matches in their 20+ year stay together.

Snyder’s time with the Commanders would invite Off-pitch controversies for the team. He was the focus of multiple investigations surrounding alleged financial mismanagement. Apart from his alleged shady dealings, many reports have come out to indicate a potential sexual harassment claim in the building.

Although no physical evidence had ever materialized against the former owner for the charges against him. The fans will be glad to see the back of the man heading for the exit. Josh Harris and co will hope to bring a wave of changes for the better of the franchise and the fans. But will they change the Commander’s name? When will the change occur? It remains a mystery.
