Patrick Mahomes is chasing greatness. The Kansas City QB led the Chiefs to their second Super Bowl championship in the last four years. While Mahomes continues amusing the NFL world with his unfathomable arm strength, the Super Bowl MVP has his eyes fixed on etching his name in history books, and the 2023-24 season could see him sharing a table with some of the greats of the game.
There are only a few who have had a victory against all 32 teams in the NFL, and Tom Brady is one of them. The other notable names are Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre as the only QBs to win against every NFL team. While that might not be possible for Mahomes at the moment, the Chiefs’ superstar has an opportunity to further his case for one of the best ever.

Tom Brady made his NFL debut in 2001. At that point in time, there were only 31 teams in the NFL. In 2002, the Houston Texans played its first NFL game and since then only a handful of QBs won against all of them. In order to beat every possible team, a player needs to be traded, and that seems highly unlikely given that the Chiefs are considering tweaking Mahomes’ contract.

The Week 5 matchup would provide Patrick Mahomes a shot at history books. If the Chiefs do emerge victorious against the Vikings, then Patrick Mahomes would have had a win against every NFL franchise but the Chiefs.

While the win would get Mahomes into an exclusive club, he still has a long way to go and is relentlessly pursuing the greatness of Tom Brady. Mahomes even admitted to the same in the past but pleaded to halt the comparisons as he is still building his resume.
The 31 wins club
Patrick Mahomes needs to secure a win against the Minnesota Vikings and if he succeeds, then he will join Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger as the only two players with a win against all 31 franchises. Aaron Rodgers also has a shot at joining Brady, Manning, Bress, and fellow Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre.

Ironically Rodgers came into the Packers’ locker room as a replacement for Favre, who at the time moved on to the New York Jets. And now Rodgers has done the same. With Aaron Rodgers having changed his allegiances to New York, he has the exclusive opportunity to join the four elite QBs and maybe sometime in the future, Mahomes will join the table as well.
