The biggest cheating scandal in NFL history was caught in 2007. No one expected such a thing could ever take place, as modern technology was fairly new at the time. Bill Belichick, head coach of the team, was accused by the New York Jets of videotaping their defensive signals. Upon being found guilty, the team was fined $250,000 and Bill was slapped with a whopping $500,000 fine, the biggest fine in the history of the NFL. The team also had to give up a first-round pick as a penalty. This whole scandal was called Spygate. The crazy thing is, this isn’t the only time the team has been fined for cheating.

A similar incident happened in 2018 with the Baltimore Ravens. They were also punished with 2 days off for violating NFL policy during the preseason. The team was fined a total of $150000.

The NFL world reacts to the scandal

The internet totally broke after the whole incident. As there is no official statement from the team, fans have all sorts of theories about why the team was punished once again, and what exactly took place for the NFL to penalize them. There is no shortage of theories on the internet. One of the fans wrote, “They stay cheating, the Patriot way.

Some other users wrote.

Some fans went ahead and blamed Belichick

Some were funnier than the other

In conclusion, the whole issue is yet to unfold. It is not the Patriot’s first attempt, so it is obvious the fans aren’t shocked.  Sometimes teams miss their OTA practices voluntarily, but that’s not the issue here. So, it could be much worse or nothing at all.
