The Carolina Panthers quarterback position has been passed around back and forth this season. Baker Mayfield, the 2018 NFL draft’s first pick, began the season as starting quarterback. A high ankle injury forced him to sit out of games in October. Quarterback PJ Walker then replaced Mayfield for five games.

But Walker was benched in the second half of the Panthers’ game against the Bengals. Mayfield ensured the Panthers were not humiliated. Even though it was too late to salvage a victory, during the brief showing Mayfield put on a good performance. Walker then again replaced him in their bout against the Falcons. Unfortunately for Walker, his luck was short-lived. The quarterback also suffered a high ankle sprain, which caused him to sit out the team’s loss to the Ravens.

Baker Mayfield’s performance has been unimpressive. The quarterback is one of the worst-ranked players of the season. Now, Sam Darnold is set to be Mayfield’s replacement. After missing out on the action this season because of a high ankle sprain, Darnold was taken off injured reserve and activated on Nov 7. By starting Darnold, the Panthers have had three quarterbacks starting for them this season. Fans online provided a mixed bag of reactions to the Panthers’ decision to stat Darnold.
