The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the firm favorites to play in the Super Bowl this season. They have a frightening offense already with Patrick Mahomes as a fulcrum. But they aren’t going to rest on what they have. The franchise is looking to give Mahomes all the support he can get. And they are getting a disgruntled RB from the Denver Broncos to do just that.

The Chiefs have signed a two-time Pro Bowler to strengthen their already fearsome O-line.

More support for Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He can make any offense look scary. But the Chiefs don’t want to leave anything to chance when it comes to this year’s run to the Super Bowl. The Kansas City-based franchise has signed running back Melvin Gordon as a free agent. Gordon is expected to join the Chiefs’ practice squad and will be added to the active roster later.

The Broncos released Gordon last week. He confirmed the news of signing with Kansas to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.

Gordon started his NFL journey with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers picked him up in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. In his five seasons with the Chargers and two-and-a-half with the Broncos, Gordon has raked up 6,460 rushing yards and 55 rushing touchdowns. He has also caught 309 passes and scored 14 receiving touchdowns. A great weapon to have in the arsenal.

The Chiefs run towards the Super Bowl

The AFC West division saw a lot of activity in the off-season with all teams signing marquee players. All but the Chiefs. In fact, the Chiefs let go of a star player in Tyreek Hill. For most onlookers, the season was going to be a tough one for the Chiefs.

Nothing of that sort looks to be the case after 12 weeks of action. The Chiefs boast of a 9-2 overall record and are looking unstoppable. The team is on a five-game winning streak. And they are as formidable as ever, contrary to the popular opinion at the start of the season.

The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is first in the league in both passing yardage and touchdown throws. Mahomes has thrown 3,585 yards so far and caused 29 passing touchdowns. He has recorded only eight interceptions and has a pass completion rate of 66.1%. Can Mahomes guide them to glory, like he did in the 2019 season?
