Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs started their 2020 NFL campaign as firm favourites to retain their Super Bowl title. The AFC West franchise put up a scintillating offensive display in 2019 to make their way to the Super Bowl LIV title. However, they failed to live up to expectations.
The Chiefs were once again dominant in 2020 as they made it to the playoffs. But they were thoroughly outplayed by Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl LV finale at the Raymond James Stadium. Most of the first-team starters, especially the offensive line, got extended minutes with the exception of Mahomes. The 2018 NFL MVP played most of the second quarter, completing 10 of 18 passes for 78 yards. His showing in the first half came to a conclusion after he threw an interception in the end zone on his third possession.
Mahomes guided the home team on two 15-play drives, one of which resulted in a field goal. WR Byron Pringle was his top target, catching three 3 pass attempts for 22 yards. Meanwhile, long-term teammate and good friend Mecole Hardman caught 2-of-6 for 19 yards.
