Born in 1995, little did people know the NFL today would witness the greatness of Patrick Mahomes for the Kansas City Chiefs. The excellence of NFL GOAT Tom Brady dominated the previous era, earning seven Super Bowl championships under his name. And now, this Texas-born 27-year-old QB is making his mark, arguably becoming the one to dethrone Brady as the GOAT of the game.

Stars are not born, they are made”. This proverb holds true when talking about the path the 2X Super Bowl champion has been on. Since his high school days, Mahomes has been showing his talents on the football field. And this attracted interest from top college programs before he eventually committed to Texas Tech University. Under HC Kliff Kingsbury, Mahomes polished his exceptional football IQ and pinpoint accuracy, flourishing under the ‘Air Raid’ offensive play style. His exceptional college record went on to earn him the Sammy Baugh Trophy and the Manning Award. And this captivated the interests of NFL scouts, who could see the making of a future NFL star in Patrick Mahomes.

Today, every NFL fan is well-versed in the game-changing passes the 27-year-old makes for the Chiefs on the field. But back in his draft day in 2017, not many believed that Patrick Mahomes would create a legacy in the NFL. He was given a low draft grade, with analysts stating that “he is nowhere ready to play in the NFL.” Despite the odds placed against him, Andy Reid struck gold, and this turned the fortunes of the Chiefs forever. His performance on the field led to him securing a massive 10-year deal worth around $503 million in 2020, which makes him the hope of the Chiefs kingdom for years ahead.
