A championship ring that Mahomes eventually won. However, Lamar Jackson had the last laugh as he was declared the MVP for the 2019 season unanimously.

Mahomes and Jackson head into the 2020 season knowing that they both have a point to prove. Patrick’s mammoth $503 million contract will undoubtedly put some pressure on his shoulders. However, it is no secret that the prodigious Texas-born quarterback thrives off of some healthy competition.

Here’s what Baltimore Ravens’ Jackson had to say to Mahomes after the latter agreed to a 10-year extension.

While speaking to ESPN correspondent Jamison Hensley, Jackson said that his counterpart Pat Mahomes definitely deserved the multi-million contract.

“No one has ever dreamed about that. Probably dreamed about it but no one ever expected that. Especially half a billion dollars. That’s different. He deserves it,” Jackson said.

There is massive mutual respect between the two leading QBs. The reigning league MVP further added that he knows what he has to do in order to land a contract similar to that of Pat Mahomes in the near future.

Jackson had a terrific 2019 season. He rushed for 3,000+ yards and registered 36 TDs for the Ravens as they took the league by surprise.

The 23-year old boasted a 66.7 pass completion percentage. He was inducted into the two-strong club of quarterbacks to bag the NFL MVP award by a unanimous vote, alongside Tom Brady.

The former Louisville man is still at the start of his NFL career. Therefore, he can very well land a contract like that of Mahomes if he manages to replicate his performances from 2019 in the near future.
