On Thursday, Elon Musk began his Twitter mission of removing the verification badge from the accounts of people who have not taken up the subscription model for the same. The $8 dollar subscription model is part of Musk’s Twitter Blue subscription model, which allows users to pay for verification since December. This has led to high-profile personalities on Twitter losing their verification, including the likes of Bill Gates, Kim Kardashian, and also Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

Now, 2X Super Bowl-winning QB Patrick Mahomes has also joined the list, and he had a message for the Twitter CEO. After previously declining to pay for the verification for a hilarious reason, the Kansas City Chiefs QB must surely be regretting that now.

Patrick Mahomes loses his blue tick

If Mahomes is incensed about losing his Twitter verification, he’s not showing it. Tagging Musk on a tweet, the QB said, “Let me get my blue check back” with a bunch of laughing emojis. The young QB has almost 2.4 million people following him on Twitter. And being one of the top QBs in the NFL, it is kind of odd to see his profile without verification now. 

The Chiefs QB had previously questioned Twitter taking away the blue verification tick from profiles. When he tweeted about it, he got a reply asking him to pay for the $8 dollar subscription. He had a hilarious response to it back then.

Mahomes’ funny response to the $8 dollar subscription

After being urged in his previous tweet to pay Twitter $8 dollars for the subscription, the QB had a mic drop response to stop further discussions regarding it. He tweeted a reply saying, “Can’t bro I’ve got kids…” Parenting is an expensive task, and Mahomes’ witty reply got a hilarious response from his fanbase. Despite being a $450 million QB, even Mahomes is cheeky when it comes to paying for trivial things in life.

But with the new mission initiated by Elon Musk, will Mahomes eat his words to retain his verification on the platform and pay for Twitter Blue? Or will he make do with his unverified status? Whatever his decision regarding this matter, it won’t change the fact that he is on his way to becoming the next GOAT of the NFL after Tom Brady.
