Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs lost on Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals at the Paycor Stadium. This snapped their 5-game winning streak and pushed Cincinnati to the No 1 wildcard seed team in the AFC playoff picture. However, Patrick’s mother was more upset about particular unsportsmanlike conduct from one of the Bengals’ safety.

Bengals safety Jessie Bates III pulled off some soccer antiques on Sunday’s AFC Championship rematch between the Chiefs and the Bengals. This happened very late in the second quarter when the Chiefs were at the Bengal’s 2-yard line with Cincinnati leading 14-3. With Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce lingering around, Bates thought it best to waste some time and throw the Kansas offense off.

Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, knows that wins and losses are a part of the game. However, she did not appreciate the use of this unfair tactic for distraction. Jerick McKinnon rushed for a 2-yard touchdown a couple of plays later for the Chiefs. However, Randi Mahomes believed that the play involving the Bates shenanigan could have also led to some extra points. Son, and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes had an average night by his extraordinary standards recording only 1 touchdown over 226 yards with a 59% completion rate. And Randi was in no mood for Jessie Bates’ theatrical performances on-field.

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals have now won two consecutive games against the Chiefs after their AFC Conference championship game last season. The 27-24 victory over Mahomes is a clear statement from LSU and Bengals quarterback Burrow of higher challenges to come. Pat had high words of praise for his Bengals counterpart and appreciated his competitiveness.

The Chiefs gave up some fumbles and allowed some callous turnovers that ultimately led to the defeat on Sunday. However, without the considerable waste of time because of Jessie Bates’ fake injury, the outcome could have been vastly different. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will forget this loss and move on to their next game against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. However, Burrow and the Bengals will be on Mahomes’ mind.
