Few quarterbacks in the NFL today can match the sheer prowess and dominance displayed by Patrick Mahomes. His exceptional leadership skills have propelled his team to unparalleled heights in a brief span of time. Following his team’s commanding victory last season, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has relentlessly pursued his quest for his third Lombardy trophy, displaying remarkable growth and improvement in the OTAs.
While the 2x MVP continues to dominate the NFL with his remarkable achievements, it’s intriguing to note that this path to this acclaimed career wasn’t his initial choice. And, a very recently resurfaced picture shows a glimpse into how the iconic figure of today could have potentially excelled in a different sports genre beyond the realm of football.

Patrick Mahomes wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps
Mahomes’ father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., is certainly known for being one of the most ruthless pitchers in MLB. However, he never limited himself to only one sports genre. During his high school years, Mahomes’ father displayed his versatility as an athlete by dominating three sports genres, which include basketball and football, aside from baseball. After Mahomes’ birth, Pat Sr. played a pivotal role in nurturing his son’s athletic journey.

This recently resurfaced picture of Mahomes with his father has gained a lot of attention on the internet. Baby Mahomes is seen swinging a baseball bat while his father watches him from behind. They are also seen wearing the same jerseys, while Pat Sr. is seen wearing a baseball glove. A cart full of playing gears can also be seen in the photo.
The 2x MVP possessed a deep passion for baseball from an early age. As he made his way to high school, scouts took notice of his exceptional skills and things started to get serious, very soon.

Mahomes’ father harbored a strong desire for him to play in the MLB, and his aspirations seemed within reach when the 2x Super Bowl champ got an offer from the Detroit Tigers as their 37th-round pick in the 2014 MLB draft. However, Mahomes turned the offer down and chose to pursue a career in football.
The 2x MVP is still drawn to baseball
There is no argument that Mahomes’ choice to play football instead of baseball was definitely the right one. However, his affection for baseball remains strong, and he continues to indulge his love for the sport on a seldom basis. It has only been a few weeks since Mahomes’ return to baseball grounds at Kauffman Stadium, where he took the field for the Kansas City Royals, a team he partly owns. The 2x MVP was the main attraction of the game and left an impenetrable impression on the audience.

Mahomes might have made history if chose to pursue a career in baseball. However, he has become the new face of the NFL and is regarded as the best quarterback in the league. The 2x MVP has led his team to two Super Bowl victories and doesn’t plan to stop the grind anytime soon. The Chiefs are also looking to dominate this season with a revised roster that protects their star QB. So, it’s safe to say that Mahomes is making monumental strides in football, while also finding joy and fulfillment through his occasional involvement in other sports.
