Patrick Mahomes orchestrated an overtime win for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Houston Texans. He helped them clinch the divisional title and book a playoff berth. But none of those things made him as glad as finally winning at the NRG Stadium, the home of the Texans.

Why was the win so special for Patrick Mahomes?

Patrick Mahomes revealed the real reason that made him happy to win at the NRG Stadium and it has nothing to do with the Texans themselves. Speaking about it during the post-game press conference, Mahomes pointed out that his team lost the last time they played in this stadium. So, he was glad to post the win.

“I am glad we won. Last time I played here, we lost. So, I was glad we won that game and we battled. Obviously, we thought we didn’t play our best, but we found a way to win at the end of the day,” Mahomes said.

He then wished luck to Texas Tech for the upcoming Texas Bowl.“Now wishing Texas Tech to win here in a couple of weeks,” Mahomes added. The Chiefs QB is a native of Texas and played college football for Texas Tech. The last time Mahomes played at the NRG Stadium was during the 2015 Texas Bowl where the Texas Tech Red Raiders took on the Louisiana State Tigers. Mahomes and Co. lost that game 56-27. But the world saw how special Mahomes was in that game. The Texas Tech QB ended the game by completing 28 passes for 370 yards and scoring four touchdowns for the Red Raiders. And on Sunday too, he dug his team out of a hole against the Texans.

Phenomenal Mahomes to the rescue

The Chiefs had to fight and battle hard against the Texans. The home team led for most of the game. But in the end, QB Patrick Mahomes proved to be the difference between the two teams.
