Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany welcomed the newest edition to the Mahomes family. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback became a father of two with the birth of his second child. While speaking to the press, Mahomes revealed the status of the mother and child. He looked ecstatic while delivering an update about the birth of his son. Mahomes called his wife ‘a champ’ while updating the press about their status.

The quarterback was asked about his son’s unique name and how they came about naming his child ‘Bronze.’ Mahomes said that while he and his wife were looking for names for their oldest child, they did not know if they were welcoming a boy or a girl. Mahomes stated that he wanted his daughter Sterling to have a connection with her brother.

The quarterback also excitedly explained that he’s always wanted to name his son after himself. Mahomes gushed about the fact that he used to think about naming his son since the age of five.

The Chiefs quarterback also mentioned who had inspired his son’s name. He said, “My brother Jackson whenever we were trying to find something that was a little unique and different, he said ‘What about Bronze? it fits perfectly with Sterling,’ so we went with that.”

Mahomes said the suggestion from his brother worked out well and gave Bronze his own identity despite having his father’s name. The name Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III pays homage to the family’s name. It also has a special connection with the Mahomes’ oldest child, Sterling. Both children are named after two alloys.

Mahomes was glad the suggestion worked out because his son would have a name for himself. “He can have his own thing now where he’s not Patrick, he’s Bronze even though he’s Patrick and Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward,” he added. The happiness on the quarterback’s face was very evident.
