Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was finding both the hilarious side and calling out the fake reports about his displeasure towards his wife and his brother. The 2020 NFL champion took to Twitter to respond to these ludicrous claims and found some humor about the inaccuracy of the reporting. The reporting emerged supposedly from one of the sources posing as someone else for the reporter who tweeted the news.

The tweet came from former NFL player Rich Ohrnberger’s account on Friday. He did push the news until it was brought to the Chiefs QB’s attention. The tweet by Ohrnberger was removed from his account soon after. He believes that he was a victim of catfishing by some posing user. He states, “I can’t substantiate the information that I tweeted out earlier today regarding Patrick Mahomes and his family. The source I received this information from was posing as someone I trust.”

It is some concerning information, and the fading difference between fake news and real news got real in this instance. While the Ohrnberger tweet should have been fact-checked, the rumor gained weight for him to discuss on a public forum.
Patrick Mahomes finds some humor in this fake news
The Chiefs QB on reading or hearing about the news was calm and collected and laughed it off as a joke. Ohrnberger wasn’t the only one who was catfished but also Pro Football Talk reporter Mike Florio was almost on the end of reporting this news. He, however, didn’t believe the original rumor that claimed Mahomes would be restricting his fiancee Brittany Matthews and brother Jackson Mahomes from attending the Chiefs games.
The source of the rumor remains anonymous. It appears to stem from the frustrations of some NFL fans towards Mahomes and his family members. Both Brittany and Jackson have been no strangers to cringe-worthy antics in and out of the stadium. Fans have been calling and reaching out to Mahomes with the sentiment that he can’t do much about them.

Florio rightly understands how some fans are trying to force the issue by pushing false narratives about Mahomes. It is necessary to check before discussing some of the personal matters of NFL players. The incident becomes a great example. It highlights a shortcoming or loophole in reporting of the events by certain media personnel. It demands more accountability from every person from that sphere.
