Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes might be just 25, but he’s already a star in the NFL. Drafted back in 2018, the Chiefs quarterback has already won a Super Bowl and is a former NFL MVP.
But before Mahomes was lighting the league up with his incredible playmaking abilities, the quarterback was putting in a shift at Texas Tech University.
The quarterback holds multiple records while playing for the college. And despite his success in the NFL, Mahomes doesn’t seem to have let the fame get to his head.

Patrick Mahomes on Saturday took a trip all the way to Houston to watch his alma mater take on the Houston Cougars. While Mahomes is a superstar in the NFL, he doesn’t seem to have forgotten his roots.

The game was Texas Tech’s season opener. And with their alumni in attendance, Texas Tech put on a show. Down by two plays at halftime, Mahomes’ college side pulled off an impressive comeback to finish the game 38-21 as winners.

With the Chiefs‘ starting QB looking on, Texas Tech had added motivation to win the game. And the sort of high-scoring game that played out in front of Mahomes’ eyes isn’t something that he isn’t used to.
Back in 2016, Mahomes was the starting quarterback during a game between Texas Tech and the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners were no pushovers being led by future Heisman winner and Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield.

And boy did both teams put on a show. With the game ending 66-59 in favor of the Sooners, both sides combined together for 1,708 combined offensive yards. A record which stands to this day.
