The 2022 season is nearing its end, and experts have started analyzing the future of NFL teams. Currently, the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was caught under the spotlight to improve their cornerback depth chart following a setback from Anthony Brown’s brutal Achilles injury. Star veteran Patrick Peterson is now pitched as a potential prospect to get a ticket into the Cowboys locker room.

The Eight-time Pro Bowler has been an indispensable asset for the Vikings in the past two seasons. However, he is set to hit free agency in 2023, giving him the freedom to find a new landing spot. According to NFL analyst, Jonathan Adams, America’s team happens to be the favorite to rope him in.

Despite proving as a weapon for Minnesota, Peterson played at an affordable price, signing a $4 million contract last season. However, during his tenure at Arizona, the veteran bagged a $70 million deal for five years. Thus he won’t come cheap if Jerry Jones derives any interest. According to Adams, one of the primary reasons for Peterson coming to Dallas is their depleted defensive corps.

After Kelvin Joseph and Anthony Brown’s exit, only Trevor Diggs shines in the locker room. Although he is expected to retain his position, the need for veterans looks imminent.

Moreover, Peterson’s affinity towards the Cowboys rules out all these permutations and combinations, giving him an open gateway. “Growing up, I always saw myself being an NFL football player,” Peterson said in an interview.

“My dreams were to be a Cowboy, but at the end of the day, that didn’t happen. Still got time on the table because I think I have some tread still left on the tires. But I love the game, no matter who I’m playing for,” he added, calling himself a great leader.
