The New England Patriots hit a snag after one of the NFL’s brightest offensive minds flew to Las Vegas. After starting the Brady-less era with Mac Jones, the franchise faced a significant void. Bill Belichick, naming no coordinators on either side of the ball, raised several concerns. But Ex-NFL TE Shannon Sharpe might have some generous predictions on the New England coaching strategy.

Naming no coordinator is a tactic that the New England Patriots had in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era. Undeniably, the franchise played out great despite the void. However, the worries might be genuine for the Patriots enthusiasts, as the Messiah is no more in Boston. Mac Jones must restore the franchise to postseason contention.

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots decided not to replace Josh McDaniels after his departure last month. Indeed, they chose not to name coordinators on both sides. It left people wondering how they intend to handle things to coach. However, Shannon Sharpe gives a modest perception of the Pats’ coordinator deadlock.

During the UNDISPUTED: Skip and Shanon broadcast, the HOF TE explains, “Someone not named Bill Belichick. Um, I think the thing is that the Patriots have always been vague about stuff like this. Remember the last couple of years they’ve gone without naming the defensive coordinator… You know what I’m going to say if I have to? If you force me to, it’s going to be between Matt Patricia and Joe Judge. I’m going to say, Patricia.”

After listening to Sharpe’s claims, Skip Bayless had some refutable comments about Patricia’s experience. Sharpe doesn’t deny that he has aeronautical engineering roots. But they could have shared responsibilities.

Why are the New England Patriots not naming an offensive coordinator?

Without Josh McDaniels, Mick Lombardi, and Bo Hardegree, the Pats’ coaching front has extra responsibility this year. The lack of coordinators brings questions, and Bill Belichick has done almost nothing to clarify the situation. However, Tom E. Curran says the Patriots are holding back on marking an offensive coordinator because of monetary reasons.

As Curran made clear, Patricia can still perform most or all of the duties of an OC. If the franchise does not give Patricia a designation, the Detroit Lions have to pay the rest of his contract. And while neither Patricia nor Judge is an official coordinator, they will collaborate to carry out the duties of one.
