According to a few players of the Patriots, the Colts’ linebacker Shaq Leonard knew some of the plays, as they heard him calling out those. Later, Belichick also showed support for his players, as he started throwing shades at the Colts players.

The Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick accuses Shaq Leonard of calling out their plays

While the legendary coach won the game against the Colts by 26-3, opponents knowing their game plan has been bothering him. “We definitely want to prevent that… I thought that there were two or three plays for sure that Leonard really got a big jump on and stopped us basically on those plays. (C.J.) Mosley got a couple of those a couple weeks ago in the Jets game,” Belichick said recently.

Notably, Belichick thought the Jets linebacker CJ Mosely was also calling out all the plays. However, he did not blame the offensive line coach Matt Patricia regarding his offensive plays.

“It looked like Mosley almost heard the play in the huddle. He was on it so fast… Leonard had a couple like that, too. So, whether that’s something we were giving away or just something that he anticipated based on whatever the keys were that he might have picked up,” Belichick further said.

In the end, he also praised those linebackers for anticipating the offensive plays. According to the Patriots’ coach, good defenders read the game well and can predict the play before it happens. However, it doesn’t always go in their way, as the coach can also outsmart them, sometimes.

Can the Patriots qualify for the playoffs?

After a good season last year, the Patriots are not having a great start to this season. So far, they have won 5 and lost 4 games this season and are currently at the bottom of the AFC East division. It will be tough for them this season to qualify for the playoffs. Moreover, the Dolphins, the Jets, and the Bills all have excellent records.

Patriots’ young quarterback, Mac Jones, is still finding his feet after a great last season. After throwing 3801 yards for 22 touchdowns last year, he threw only 4 touchdowns for 1140 yards. Despite having a slim possibility to qualify for the playoffs, Belichick is probably already looking at the future, as he is trying to rebuild the team.
