The NFL is one of the most celebrated sports leagues in the entire world. However, the dark side of this glitzy world often remains concealed, overshadowed by the glamour and glory. While many across the world have often pointed out the disturbing truth about the unnerving lifespan of NFL Players, the latest to join the tirade is Hollywood hunk, Terry Crews.

Crews himself was an NFL player back in the ’90s, appearing in 32 NFL games across his career. As a defensive end, Crews would suit up for three franchises, Los Angeles Rams, the San Diego Chargers, and Washington Redskins (now Commanders), in a career that spanned five seasons between 1991 to 1996. Who better to talk about the underlying problem in the NFL than someone who knows the ins and outs of the league?

The issue of players dying at a young age has plagued professional football and the NFL for decades. Crews is the latest among many to bring up the issue as he appeared on the ‘Rich Eisen Show’. While answering a question about his time in the NFL, the Hollywood star brought up the increasing number of deaths of former football players. The 55-year-old Crews especially spoke about the growing list of professional football athletes who have passed away under the age of 50.

“What blows my mind is that there are people who are younger than me that are gone, that are passed away. And I was thinking, this is wild man. To be an old football player is kind of rare,”  he said.

The heartbreaking message by Crews came as a result of a question about his former teammate Junior Seau. Seau and Crews were both part of the ‘93 Rams team together. Crews’ fellow linebacker, Seau, would go on to make the 1990’s All-Decade team. Unfortunately, the Hall Of Famer fell victim to CTE and took his own life in 2012.

Yet, more than a decade after his tragic passing, the world of professional football still seems to remain unphased by its own athletes succumbing to their terrible fates.
