In general, NFL teams propose rule changes every year, and the NFL reviews them and then determines which proposals are worthy of being changed. Philadelphia Eagles proposes a new rule change for the 2023 NFL season

As per the latest reports, the Eagles have made a proposal, which will see the game clock display tenths of seconds for every second in the final 30 seconds of each half. Notably, NBA uses this same method with their shot clocks, which produces some jaw-dropping moments on a regular basis. Moreover, the teams could plan according to that if they know the exact time remaining on the clock.

As per the chairman of the competition committee, Rich McKay, this proposal got some support from the other NFL teams. NFL’s annual league meeting will take place next week, where the members of the competition committee will discuss this newest proposal by the Eagles.

The Eagles certainly felt heartbroken by the loss against Mahomes’ Chiefs in the Super Bowl 57 match-up. The score remained 35-35 until the last minute of the game. With just 8 seconds remaining on the clock, Harrison Butker nailed a 27-yard field goal. Then, there was not much time left in the game for the Eagles to make a comeback. Although there were controversies with the referee’s decision, many believe displaying tenths of seconds on the game clock may have helped the Eagles.

The Eagles have made plenty of changes in their squad

After losing against the Chiefs, the Eagles have gone through some kind of overhaul in their squad. One of the best defensive players for them last season, DT Javon Hargrave, left a massive void in the Eagles’ defense. Moreover, safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson’s departure will also hurt them in the new season. There are other names, like, LB T.J. Edwards, RB Miles Sanders, QB Gardner Minshew, WR Zach Pascal, and a few others who also left the team.

On the other hand, they also retained CB James Bradberry, which was one of their main goals after the last season ended. Apart from that, they signed QB Marcus Mariota, who could fill in for Jalen Hurts if he gets injured. They also signed RB Rashaad Penny, who had a tremendous end to the 2022 season for the Seahawks. Despite the overhaul, the Eagles team looks strong to compete for another Super Bowl.
