Philadelphia gears up for a weekend of celebration ahead of the Super Bowl LVII clash between the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. The fans are ready to celebrate the victory of their favorite team. And the Philly authorities have adopted some ingenious methods to prevent hooliganism on Sunday.

Climbing the poles is quite a common celebration tradition for Philly fans. And Philadelphia police have the perfect solution to tackle that problem. And it’s nothing too technologically sophisticated. The authorities have resorted to good old grease.

Things didn’t go down too well after the conference championship. For example, the public injury incident after the Eagles won the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers when a bus stop shelter collapsed after rowdy fans climbed on top.

City of Philadelphia spokesperson Joy Huertas spoke to NPR, about their strategy to overcome any avoidable hazards.

For public safety reasons, the city is not disclosing if/when the poles will be greased. Also, protocols for the upcoming game are being evaluated by the police department, including the greasing of poles,” Huerta said.

A Philadelphia Eagles win can lead to even bigger problems for the police

After a recent championship victory for the Philadelphia Phillies of the MLB in the National Championship League Series over the San Diego Padres, the workers got an idea of what they could expect at the Super Bowl. However, pole climbing isn’t the only concern. There are also the ensemble parades blocking vital intersections, illegal fireworks, and uncontrolled and illegal public drinking.

Also, ahead of the NFC championship game this year, the city of brotherly love geared up by barricading certain buildings and poles to keep the crowd on the streets. The roads around the City Hall were also closed to civilians. And similar precautions are well on the schedule before the title game this Sunday.
