On 10th September, the Pittsburgh Steelers had one of the worst home losses of their career. The match against the San Francisco 49ers ended in disaster as they opened the season with their first game. Steelers lost to the 49ers, leaving the fans in a visibly disappointed state. They took to Twitter and let their frustrations be known in plenty. While the teams’ playmaking skills were highly disproved, they weren’t even the tip of the iceberg for the Steelers’ players.

This NFL season is off to an unexpected start. The match between Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions saw the Chiefs 20-21. The Chiefs are the defending champions of the Super Bowl title and as such, they are the favorites this season. The latest Steelers v/s 49ers ended with a devastating score of 30-7. Fans will hope this proves to be a wake-up call for the Steelers.

Steelers’ Injury Update

Many of the Steelers’ players were injured during the match, some of whom might be missing the next few games as well. Players who were injured include- Cameron Heyward, Demarvin Leal, Diontae Johnson, and Pat Freiermuth. They are all equally valuable players to the team and it will be tough to recover for the Steelers after their injuries. Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward is one of the captains of the team but he had to be taken off the field after a severe groin injury.

While it is not officially confirmed how long Hayward will be off the bench, it is certain that he won’t be returning before the end of Week 1. DeMarvin Leal suffered an elbow injury while Johnson suffered a hamstring injury. The injuries only mean more bad news for the Steelers as they try to recover from a disastrous state.

Steelers’ season this year

The team has played in eight Super Bowls, winning six of them, including four in six years. Though it’s been an impressive team in the league throughout, their recent performances have been quite poor. Steelers’ current coach, Mike Tomlin, also holds a fantastic career record with the team. He has had the most consecutive non-losing seasons to begin his coaching career, which stands at 16.
