Outside Linebacker TJ Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers had a record 2021 season. Having made 22.5 sacks in the season, he joined Michael Strahan by tying for the most sacks in a single season as per the record books. Strahan was the last and only person to achieve this in 2001.

However, according to Watt, he wasn’t satisfied with just tying the record and wanted to be better. Watt is currently the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Watt had sacked Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley behind the line of scrimmage in the Steelers’ win over the Ravens.

It wasn’t considered a sack because Baltimore center Bradley Bozeman had fumbled the snap. Thus, Huntley technically recovered a fumble before Watt engulfed him and caused another one.

Talking about the record, TJ Watt said, “I feel that I have so much more to give to the game. I am definitely not satisfied. I am trying to continue to grow and be one of the best who ever played this game.”

TJ’s words reflect the drive and discipline to become the best in his division through consistently outstanding performances. Watt has tallied double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons, he’s led the NFL in sacks in consequently and done the same in tackles for loss.

Watt’s dedication to his craft shows when he says, “The No. 1 thing I told myself …… is that it is great to have a great play, a great game, but it is different stringing them together over days, weeks, months, seasons… It’s all about being consistent and how long you can be consistent.”

Watt mentioned that his personal goal during every offseason was to ensure that he came prepared for preseason in his best possible shape. He wants to get bigger, stronger, and faster. This unwavering determination to do his best consistently is what keeps him at the top of his position in the league.

The Steelers would hope that Watt displays this level of commitment for the entire period he plays for them, contributing effectively to their defense.
