According to the recent developments in the NFL world, it seems the 2022 Pro Bowl might become the last game the fans could have witnessed. Reports claim that the NFL is considering dropping the event that is held every year just one week before the Super Bowl.
The low viewership is cited as one of the prime reasons behind the move. However, there hasn’t been an official announcement from the league; the decision is speculated to come out soon.

While the 2021 Pro Bowl got canceled due to the pandemic situation; this year’s event was expected to attract a larger audience. However, this year’s Pro Bowl produced its lowest membership since 2006.
It was something around $6.7 million. Although it wasn’t a bad figure, the event saw a dip of 17% compared to the previous years. The Pro Bowl is an All-star game between NFC and AFC teams, something similar to which is held in NBA and MLB every year.
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, the NFL can use the Pro Bowl Sunday to showcase the players being voted for the event rather than playing an actual game.
The NFL is discussing the Pro Bowl week and ways to improve it — including possibly eliminating the traditional game and using that Sunday to showcase the players in it. Essentially, what are the alternatives?

Moreover, a flag football game can also prove to be an alternative solution. This will not only help the players but also aid the league to limit the use of its infrastructure. As soon as the news started breaking out, fans were keen to share their comments.
NFL fans react to dropping the Pro Bowl
No doubt, the Pro Bowl is slowly losing its credibility and spirit over the recent years. One of the main reasons is the players who often tend to back off from attending the match because they don’t want to get injured.
Moreover, other athletes playing in the Super Bowl are never available. As a result, this format often fails to entertain the fans with a shortage of players attending the game.
A Twitter user mentioned that the game is a complete joke.
The game is a joke. It’s best played after the Super Bowl so everyone voted can participate but even still. The effort portrayed is laughable.

Another Twitter made a unique proposition for conducting the Pro Bowl in a different manner.
The game itself could be played by college players wanting one more chance to showcase their skills but everything else like the drills would be done by the professionals. The college players would be randomly assigned to play for the NFC or AFC team. Anyone agree or disagree?

Similarly, Lawrence Brennan asked the Legaue to call it a clash of Hall of Famers.
Move the “Pro Bowl” to the next seasons Hall of Fame game. The star players from both teams playing the HoF game barely play a half a quarter which is the same of what the player play in the Pro Bowl. Plus, it’s like “todays stars playing where they one day may be inducted.” 🤷

A user by the name Doug said the players must be asked to play some other game instead to test their skillset.
Just play some skills competition and a softball or basketball game. I don’t think these guys should be hitting each other at all.
