Baker Mayfield is continuously seeking an exit from the Cleveland Browns. Since the franchise has signed Deshaun Watson, it was pretty clear that Mayfield will be off to another team. However, that hasn’t been easy for Mayfield, but the former QB1 for the Browns has a chance to make it happen.

The only possible way for Baker Mayfield is by taking a pay cut. If he agrees, he could be traded to another team, which wouldn’t impact their salary cap.

The same scenario has happened in the past also with another player. According to CBS Sports, Teddy Bridgewater originally had signed a three-year, $63 million deal in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers paid out $24 million in Year 1 but got out before the 2021 NFL Draft. Bridgewater agreed to a significant pay cut in order to get traded from Carolina.

Similarly, Mayfield can also do this. He will be able to facilitate a trade out of Cleveland. Further, there is a very high possibility of the Carolina Panthers taking him if he agrees to take a pay cut. It is primarily because the Panthers already have Sam Darnold, who is earning similar to Baker.

Is Carolina a good destination for Baker Mayfield?
Carolina Panthers are in dire need of a good quarterback to fix their vows. They already have Sam Darnold and rookie Matt Corral at their helm. There were also rumors about a potential return of Cam Newton to their team. If Baker Mayfield ends up in Carolina, it could deem fruitful for him.

The team is young, and there will not be many expectations of him. The Panthers don’t have the talent on their roster similar to what the Browns do, which is why Baker can excel with less pressure on him.

As of now, any move out of the Cleveland Browns will be good for Mayfield. However, a move to Carolina will also provide a decent opportunity for him to revive his NFL career.
