Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sought the help of this unlikely individual while exploring ways to help his childhood friend and rapper Kodak Black last year. He was seeking former President of the United States Donald Trump’s help to secure a commuted sentence for his friend. The development of the situation was to be the most intriguing for NFL fans and was one of the eye-catching stories in the league.
While asking for Black’s, real name Bill Kapri, release, Jackson took to Twitter, tweeting, “Hey @realDonaldTrump @potus my friend @KodakBlack1k deserves to be commuted. The system punished him way to hard for a paperwork crime #freekodak“. Kapri was serving a 46 months sentence after pleading guilty to a weapons charge and admitting to falsifying background information during purchase.

However, the situation worsened after some other charges from his past in 2016 came up while fighting the current charge. With Trump in office in 2021, Jackson was hoping to use his influence and convince him to commute Black’s sentence. Both Kapri and Jackson go way back as friends after attending the same elementary school in Florida.
Was there was light at the end of the tunnel for Lamar Jackson?
The former 2019 AP NFL MVP got through to Trump in January 2021, when the former President granted clemency to Black. It was part of his last actions in office following current President Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony. It was a piece of encouraging news for Black and Jackson, who grew up together in Pompano Beach in Florida.
