The Odell Beckham Jr. saga has finally found its conclusion. The explosive wide receiver missed the entirety of the 2022 season, but he has finally found a home for the next season. He had many options in front of him, including a solid interest from the New York Jets. The blockbuster Odell Beckham Jr. deal

Desperate to make a move in what has been a horrible offseason for the franchise, the team went all in for Odell Beckham Jr. They have signed the wide receiver on an $18 million deal for a year out of which, a whopping $15 million is in form of guaranteed money, multiple NFL insiders reported.

It is a short-term deal, but it will give OBJ a platform to make a comeback after missing last season due to an ACL injury. The wide receiver did attract attention during the 2022 season but chose to focus on recovery to come back fully fit.

The Ravens deal includes a $13.835 million signing bonus and $1.165 million in base salary for the year, according to the report. Apart from this $15 million guaranteed sum, he also has $3 million in incentives.

The deal came just a day before OBJ was scheduled to visit the Jets for a potential link-up with Aaron Rodgers. But the Jets may have to look elsewhere now. As for the Ravens, they still have a lot of problems to solve even after such a blockbuster signing.

The problems to solve

The Jets are trying to assemble a super team to break the longest active streak without a postseason appearance in American professional sports. They haven’t made it to the playoffs since the 2010 NFL season. And the franchise wants to remedy that by signing Aaron Rodgers and building a team around the four-time NFL MVP.

Odell Beckham Jr. was a piece of the puzzle that the Jets wanted. But he is now going to the Ravens instead, who have their own set of problems to deal with.

The Ravens still don’t know if they will have Lamar Jackson to throw the ball to OBJ when the next season kicks off. Jackson has fallen out with the franchise over a contract extension and has already demanded a trade away from Baltimore. Will the OBJ acquisition help them solve the QB problem? While this is still unclear, Jackson’s reaction to the trade sure gives some hope. What do you think? Do give your opinion in the comments.
