After the incident, ESPN Saints reporter Katherine Terrell gave an update on Drew Brees. She texted the former Saints QB, and the 43-year-old responded he was fine and did not get hit by the lightning bolt.

Is the lightning strike video featuring ex-NFL QB Drew Brees a fake?

The situation surrounding Drew Brees looked scary. However, some reports called the video a promotional stunt and a fake. PointsBet Sportsbook decided to do a marketing ploy starring their brand ambassador to publicize their Lightning Bets. The entire video was staged, and the former QB is safe.

The betting platform then shared a video of Drew Brees inside an ambulance working to promote the free lightning bets. However, when he exited the vehicle to wrap up the commercial shoot, a lightning bolt hit him for the second time.

Call it a fake video or a marketing stunt. It is a clever way to promote their products.
