When could Davante Adams become a free agent?
The Green Bay Packers selected Davante Adams in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. The wide receiver has been with the franchise all throughout his professional career. During his tenure at Wisconsin, Adams has been selected in the Pro Bowl five times. With the last two being first-team selections. In 2020, Adams became the NFL receiving touchdowns leader. The Packers have until March 8 to put the franchise tag on Adams. If they do not use the tag or sign a new deal with the wide receiver until March 16, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

If the Packers want Adams to stay, they should put a franchise tag on him soon. Doing that would give the team more time to work out a long-term deal with the receiver. It could extend the window of negotiations up until July. But even after getting the tag, Adams and the team do not come to an agreement, he will be forced to play the 2022 season at Green Bay. It is known as the one-year franchise tag tender.
The Packers can also tag and then trade Adams away. Doing this would create more value for losing the WR. If Davante signs with another team while being a free agent, Green Bay could get the third-round compensatory pick in the 2023 draft. What do you think the future holds for Davante Adams?
