Los Angeles Chargers are taking the routes as they attempt to find a way to add linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the defensive side of the ball. While they chose against drafting a defensive player in the 2022 NFL Draft, they seem determined to bring in a veteran presence. The Chargers will look to bring in a free agent player who can elevate their defensive solidity.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Van Noy will meet with the Chargers, possibly signing with the team. While it was a short stint with the Patriots, Van Noy performed and recorded 66 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 interception, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery.

The former Patriots’ LB will be a great asset at various positions for the Chargers and could be a big signing.

Van Noy is a hybrid player, who can drop back in coverage over the middle of the field as a linebacker, and provides quality off the edge as a pass rusher. Van Noy will also fulfil an important need for the franchise as they lack depth in the position. While they already have two elite edge rushers in Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, there aren’t many other experienced NFL players to provide backup.

What can the Los Angeles Chargers achieve in 2022?

The Chargers have a talented roster and have been busy in the offseason to compete in the stacked AFC West Division. Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley will be a cheerful man following the acquisition of several defensive players as he finds a way to integrate them. The end of the 2022 NFL Draft seems to have spurred the franchise into action, and they got a jump on the competition.

Losing the 2-time Super Bowl champion for the Patriots will be an enormous blow and someone they might face in the AFC conference games. The Chargers fans will hope that Van Noy has still got the tools to fill a role that is key to the success of this franchise.
